Bundle Pulling

The safe, efficient extraction, cleaning and reinsertion of heat exchanger tube bundles is a critical aspect of Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Plant maintenance. Quick, efficient pulling is particularly important during Turnarounds and Shutdowns, when dozens, and sometimes even hundreds, of exchanger bundles have to be removed for cleaning and maintenance as part of a highly time-critical package of activities.

Working closely the Main Mechanical Contractor and client turnaround teams,Cape DBI provides a variety of bundle pulling options that draw on innovative equipment and experienced personnel to deliver rapid, efficient extraction, transport, cleaning and reinsertion of exchangers.

Cape DBI utilise Aerial Pullers capable of pulling bundles weighing up to 35 tonnes at any elevation; a Truck-Mounted Puller that can extract bundles of up to 15 tonnes as high as a 6.5 m elevation, or weighing as much as 25 tonnes at grade; plus its own unique transport systems that are designed to safely cradle bundles during transfer to the cleaning area.

The self-propelled transporter system can safely transfer bundles up to 20 tonnes in weight to the cleaning area from even the most confined spaces, and is capable of collecting and depositing bundles without the assistance of a crane - helping cut crucial down time, and costs during turnarounds.
