Heat Exchanger Cleaning

Cape DBI have a proven, respected reputation for delivering impressive results using either remote HP Water Jetting or Chemical Solutions to clean every heat exchanger component including tubesides, shellsides, channels, boxes and shells, as well as fin fans.

Really effective cleaning delivers maximised heat transfer performance and actually reduces the frequency of cleaning required; keeping your plant online longer, driving down total production costs and increasing your profits.

Cape DBI’s huge technical, plant and equipment resources and specialist experience gained over many years makes the Company THE choice for heat exchanger cleaning and THE experts in delivering effective solutions for ‘problem’ bundles.

HP Water Jetting

HP Water Jetting is at the core of most heat exchanger cleaning works. Cape DBI were the UK pioneers in the introduction of the ‘Freelance’ and ‘Aqualance’ remote systems for the cleaning of heat exchanger tubes. Innovative and; because they are remote and use sheathed liners; extremely safe and highly productive, both systems use all of the water power to clean the tube walls.

Quick to set up and suitable for even confined spaces Freelance is a highly flexible, semi-automated lancing system which utilises a flexible sheathed single or twin lance which is mechanically driven in and out of the tubes from a rotary drum unit.

More powerful than Freelance, Aqualance is a semi-automated UHP water jetting system that uses a rigid lance mechanically driven in and out of the tubes. Aqualance is ideal for cleaning hard deposits and badly blocked tubes.

In addition to Freelance and Aqualance, Cape DBI also operates ‘Bundle Blaster’ equipment. This is a fully automated, remote, shellside bundle cleaning system that uses HP water jets delivering up to 55 gpm at pressures of around 1,000 bar (14,500 psi).

Chemical Cleaning

Where build-up of scale deposit inhibits bundle pulling and so prevents effective HP Jetting, chemical cleaning can ease bundle removal or deliver complete cleaning dissolving the scale in-situ.

When it comes to Chemical Cleaning there are a number of options available to the Cape DBI experts. In some situations the sheer build up of deposits demand jetting at higher pressures than the tubes themselves can withstand. Cape DBI has a range of open-topped treatment tanks where dipping of an entire bundle in a chemical solution can deliver an effective alternative.
