Surface Preparation

The Company’s Water Jetting systems offer a number of advantages over traditional shot and grit blasting techniques. Jetting is not only quicker and safer, but is also cleaner and more flexible. Cape DBI offers a range of delivery systems, these include hand-held lances, wheeled trucks, remote-controlled rigs and vehicle mounted assemblies using a variety of cutting jets and pressures.

This wide variety of options makes Cape DBI jetting ideal for a plethora of applications from manual removal of graffiti to stripping paint from ship’s decks and coatings from process plant right through to the removal of tyre rubber deposits on runways.

For the customer, results are delivered more quickly, efficiently and safely yet without time consuming and costly shrouding of the work area and extensive clean ups associated with the notoriously dusty sand and bead blasting alternatives.

Just as fast as bead blasting, particular advantages of Cape DBI surface preparation using HP jetting include the avoidance of secondary damage resulting from dust and grit getting into seals, valves, bearings and delicate instrumentation. HP jetting simply uses water which dries very quickly, so there is also no surface contamination - meaning surfaces re-finished immediately, cutting the development of rust and tarnish on bare metals whilst clean up is carried out prior to re-coating.

Because needless to say water presents no fire risk, HP jetting is also ideal for Zone 1 hazardous areas. Water jetting doesn’t result in re-profiling of minor cracks, meaning it’s also an excellent choice for NDT inspection.

Another key application for water jetting is in surface preparation. Cape DBI utilises a variety of HP and UHP Water Jetting techniques (further augmented by Chemical Cleaning if required) to clean and prepare surfaces for inspection and application of new coatings.
